Playoffs - Round 1 vs. Heathwood Hall Game 1 - Knowing that the two teams matched up quite identical on paper, everyone
was in anticipation for the doubleheader at Heathwood's beautiful park after the rain cleared out. The Canes jumped out
early in the first scoring three runs at C. Burton, Walker, and Stone all scored off of an error, double, single and then
some fundemental bunting and two out hitting. Walker was also on the mound for game 1 and worked quite easily without giving
up a run until the 4th. A few more runs tacked on by the Canes brought the total to six and HH just could not muster more
than three runs for the game. Walker up'd his record to 7-3 on the year with FB one win from advancing to the second round.
Game 2 - Travis Cooper ('09) was on the hill for the Canes in game two, despite no earning his a win yet this
year, everyone could tell something was a coming together tonight. He held the Highlanders hitless until the fourth and only
gave up 3 runs (1 earned) through 5. Meanwhile, the Canes bats were still swinging early with 4 runs in the first two innings
off the bats of Walker and Cooper. Despite being held scoreless the remainder of the game, the Canes brought in sophmore righty,
Clayton Smith for the save oppurtunity and he did not dissapoint. Striking out the last four batters of the game and handing
First Baptist its first series win in the playoffs and a date with #2 seed Wilson Hall in Sumter on Friday.

Westminster Academy (FL) After back to back leadoff homeruns by the bad guys, the Canes settled down and it all
came down to two outs, runner on third, down by one in the bottom of the seventh. A wild pitch on a K of Scott Polk
then makes it 1st and 3rd and Drew Rhodes the batter. Another wild pitches squirts away and Ryan
Walker slides in to tie the game and Polk advances to second. With two strikes, Rhodes liftes an outside pitch over the
left side of the infield as Polk motored around third to beat the throw and defeat the Lions of Westminster, Fort Lauderdale.

on a two out, 3-run double by Drew Rhodes lifted the Canes to 1-0 in conference play so far this year.
Military Magnet The
Canes were just too strong Monday night against Miltary Magnet. Offensively, Brandon Stone ('09) led the way with 5 ribi's,
including a three-run homer in the first inning. Meanwhile, Drew Rhodes and Travis Cooper split the pitching detail through
5 innings which resulted in the Hurricanes Program second no-hitter of the night, after JV's earlier
Academic Magnet So the real Canes showed up Friday night! 12 runs on 15 hits, led by Scott Polk ('08) with four hits and
Ryan Walker and Brandon Stone with three hits each. Walker also pitch a shutout in the five inning contest held at Collins
Park.
Pinewood Prep Perhaps the coldest night of the season saw some early warmth with the Canes taking on conference foe, Pinewood
Prep. Always a close game, a couple of hard nosed plays and both teams forgot about the temperature. Travis Cooper ('09)
held the Panthers for the first three innings as the freshest arm on a tired pitching staff. Offensively, a couple of clutch
base hits and some miscues on part of Pinewood allowed the Canes to produce a total of six runs. While, for the last four
innings, Ryan Walker ('09), shut down any threat from the opponent and earned his second win of the season in a 6-3 win
for the Canes and third place in the 2008 Sertoma Classic.
