Program Director / Head Varsity Coach

DJ Rhodes
He was born in Charleston, SC where he attended St. Andrews High School then later graduated to Wofford College to play collegiate baseball and earn a B.A. in History. He has also attained a M.A. in Teaching from The Citadel. This is his fourth year of coaching high school baseball and third year at the helm of the Canes. He also coaches the 18U Charleston Storm traveling team. He is married to Fran Rhodes and resides in Charleston.


Head Junior Varsity Coach

King Walker
This is King's third year as JV coach at First Baptist. After many years of recreational and travel team coaching, for the Charleston Braves, King has been lending his skills to the Hurricanes younger players. He is from and still resides in Charleston. King is married to Debbie Walker and has three sons, Ryan, Larson, and Max.


B-Team Head Coach

Scott Henggeler
This is Scott's first year coaching at First Baptist but has had many years of experience in the Mt. Pleasant Recreation leagues. While not on the field with the youngsters, Scott is the Director of Research in the Family Services agency of the Medical University of South Carolina. 

Assistant Coaches


Brett Anderson
Raised in Charleston, and a graduate of Bishop England and the College of Charleston where he played baseball all four years while garnering multiple Southern Conference awards, Brett will be a welcomed addition to the Hurricane staff this year. He will be working with the hitters and outfielders on Varsity while also being there to help develop many of the JV players.

Paul Gunther
Paul has been a mainstay at First Baptist for many years and always helping with Hurricane Athletics. We are happy to continue to have him help out with the team as the Bench Coach this year even though his All-Conference son has graduated and is now a student at the University of South Carolina. Paul resides in Goose Creek, SC and is married to Lori Gunther and has one son, Heath.
